Top 20 Under 40 Awards Ceremony

On November 9th, 2017 London community members took to the stage of the London Music Hall to share their stories and celebrate their personal victories. They had two things in common: they were under 40 and they had contributed to making  London, Ontario a better place for all.

London Inc. magazine runs the Top 20 Under 40 submissions every year and selects from the vast pool and narrows it down to the top 20 visionaries in technology, innovation, and bettering the lives of our community and beyond. Once selected, each of the entrepreneurs and visionaries is profiled in their print magazine as well as online.

One of our own Leapers, Nicole Snobelen, who is also one of our LeapIN incubator participants from this past summer, was awarded the honour and celebrated for her clothing line, Evelynn by Nicole Snobelen, and for her not-for-profit, The Abby Fund.

Nicole’s Work and Mission

If you’re unfamiliar with Nicole, you won’t be for long. She is making a name for herself as a fashion designer who knows how to work any figure and make women feel fabulous. The Abby Fund has moved in leaps and bounds this year as she selected her board of directors; took up residence at London’s socially-minded co-working space, Innovation Works; and has now made over 60 dream dresses and superhero capes for children in local hospitals who need a little pick-me-up in the darkest times. Nicole has always been a believer in changing lives through fashion and imagination and London Inc. Magazine chose her for that reason.

In her profile with the magazine, they made sure to emphasize that their reasons for selecting her as London’s top 20 under 40 were not only her “entrepreneurial drive and creativity but also her passion and commitment to better the lives of others.” Nicole works every day to keep climbing to the next milestone and her passion for brightening the lives of challenged children is embedded in her values.

Since Top 20 Under 40

In only a month, Nicole has already achieved some pretty spectacular things. She is now set up at the holiday pop-up shop she shares with Alayna Hryclik, another one of our leapers, who is the founder and designer of Soft Flirt. You can find them in the old Novack’s space on King Street Monday through Sunday until January 10th.

And in very exciting news for The Abby Fund, Nicole was the recipient of a $1,500 grand prize for her pitch at the Innovation Works Meaningful Market pitch competition on December 6th. She will now be able to make even more dresses and superhero capes for children in hospitals who need that little imagination pick-me-up.

Congratulations to Nicole for all your hard work and we can’t wait to see what you do next!
