Our amazing LEAPers had a blast diving into vibrant experiences, like learning Tali Garba dance moves with Margi and exploring London's coolest co-working space, Innovation Works. It’s been a fantastic time for everyone to bond, learn, and have some fun together!
Day 28: Let's dance!
Kicking off the week with Margi, the awesome owner of Nails by Margi. She taught us 3 Tali Garba, a fun dance from her home country, India! The LEAPers had an incredible time learning the lively moves and embracing the vibrant culture. It was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to bond and express themselves through dance. We truly love supporting our LEAPers in pursuing their passions and exploring new experiences together!
After that, Nick went over the interview process with the LEAPers. He talked about why solution interviews are super important and shared tips on how to organize your ideas for them. Everyone got a chance to ask questions and really get a better understanding of what’s needed.
Day 29: Innovative Wednesday!
On Wednesday, our LEAPers kicked off our annual field trip to Innovation Works, London’s co-working space for social change-makers! After touring the entire space and the LEDC landing pad with Brittany Maia, they learned about the amazing business opportunities available in London, including co-tenancy at Innovation Works, business support services from the London Economic Development Corporation and Pillar Nonprofit Network, and insights from local business owners about the importance of collaboration over competition and community impact for example:
Andres Garzon, local artist
Alayna Hryclik of Soft Flirt
Rokhsana Purdy of Purdy Natural
In the afternoon, we had the pleasure of spending time with Mariam Waliji, Vice President of Impact, Equity & Governance at Pillar Nonprofit Network. She guided our crew through an insightful journey about equity, diversity, and inclusion, focusing on how to create safe and brave spaces.
Day 30:
On Thursday, Kelsey came back to chat about professional communication. She highlighted how important it is to communicate well with coworkers and shared some tips on how to do it right, especially if you want to be a leader. Kelsey talked about building good relationships, giving helpful feedback, and creating a positive vibe at work.
At the end of the week, Dave had the LEAPers run another experiment to help them get more visibility in the market. They wanted to check if the communication channels were on point, and now it's time to start taking orders and transactions from clients.
And that’s a wrap on another awesome week! It’s so inspiring to see our LEAPers stepping out of their comfort zones and embracing new challenges with enthusiasm. We’re super proud of their growth and can’t wait to see what’s next on this incredible journey. Keep an eye out for more exciting adventures ahead!
And the highlight of the week? On Wednesday we had the honour of spending the day with the CEO of Curiosity and Emotional Support, Orion! We love dog-friendly workplaces!
